Warrioress is the Powertype we call upon when we need to get sh*t done. She’s the agile, energetic one. She’s great when there is an approaching deadline, she inspires action and empowerment in others. Her instincts are what she relies on. As Glennon Doyle wrote in ‘Untamed’, “Feel for the knowing.” Warrioress does this well, and acts upon it, trusting those instincts.
Over expressed, she can lead us into burnout territory, where under expressed Warrioress looks like someone whose “get up and go has got up and gone”. Neither is a great solution, and so we need to awaken and harness this energy properly to make sure we get the most from this raw power within.
So, how do we coax her out?
Meditation
I’ve written this little meditation for you, based on Shamanic Warrior principles. Sit in a quiet room, upright, with your hands resting in your lap. Close your eyes as you follow each step so that your focus is solely on the energy in your body. You can have someone read this to you, or you can read it to yourself, closing your eyes for each step.
- Take a deep breath, hold it for three seconds, and release it slowly
- As you take another breath, where in your body do you feel the word WARRIORESS resonating the most? Release your breath.
- Breathe into where you feel Warrioress the most. Continue to breathe deeply, holding for a few seconds, and releasing, feeling into where you feel your Warrioress.
- What colour do you see when you visualise her?
- What words do you associate with her?
- Are you comfortable with those words? Roll them around in your head. Say them aloud if you want to.
- How does your energy feel now? Can you feel the power coursing through your body?
- Continue to pay attention to your breath. Observe it filling your lungs, and feel it as it releases from your body.
- Now sit quietly for one minute as you return to yourself. Open your eyes and see the room around you. Curl your toes into the floor. Press your palms into your thighs firmly. Lift your head and your shoulders.
- She’s awake.
